Dear LMS Families,

We'd like to remind the community and our students of the upcoming testing week.  The Last Full Day of School will be Monday, June 16th. From June 17th through June 25th, the middle school will administer finals and Regents exams.

For those unfamiliar with the process, students will only report to school on those days if they have an exam scheduled. Please see the attached exam schedule for the exact dates and times of each exam. Dismissal times will vary during this period, so review the schedule with your child to stay informed. Note: There is no school for 6th and 7th graders on June 23rd and June 25th.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the main office at 631-867-3500. We will be happy to help.

Good luck to all of our students!

More About Our School

At Lindenhurst Middle School, we are extremely proud of the academic, social and extra-curricular programs that exist and are thriving at our school. Our goal is to ensure that all students are equipped with the competencies not only to succeed on the state assessments, but also to possess the requisite skills and attitude to be successful in high school and all future endeavors. Our school has fully embraced the middle school philosophy in addressing the unique social, emotional, and academic needs of its diverse adolescent student body. Each of the three grades is organized around the team concept. Staff members work collaboratively to plan curriculum and implement interdisciplinary activities and strategies to promote the academic and social success of all students. This team approach creates a smaller school feeling in a building that houses one of the largest middle school populations on Long Island. Such an atmosphere, supported by a strong and well-trained auxiliary staff of social workers, school psychologists, and guidance counselors, also facilitates students' transitions from a smaller elementary school setting to the middle school environment. At Lindenhurst Middle School, character education and citizenship development play an important role in the overall educational program. In addition, students benefit from a state- of-the-art computer classroom, Internet access throughout the building, student chorus and band programs. There are also a wide variety of extra-curricular activities and clubs that cater to the diverse interests of our student body including interscholastic sports, newspaper, computer, art, and drama clubs. Our active PTA is very involved in supplementing the academic program and sponsoring activities that add to school spirit in and a warm caring atmosphere. Staff, administration, PTA members, parents, and others involved with the Lindenhurst Middle School work hard to fulfill the mission of providing a safe and nurturing environment and motivating students to achieve academic excellence, positive values, and a strong self-image in preparation for the future.
